God made a way for you to get to
So how do we receive salvation, forgiveness of sin and eternal life with Jesus?
We receive Jesus Christ through faith. The step of faith grants us confirmation through God's Holy Spirit that we
have eternal life in heaven and also grants us power to live for him while on earth.
"By grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a
result of works that no one should boast." - Apostle Paul in Ephesians 2:8,9
We receive Jesus Christ through a personal act.
Receiving Christ involves trusting Christ to come into our lives to forgive our sins. He has the power to forgive sin.
"As many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who
believe in His name." - Jesus Christ in John 1:12
Remember, just to agree intellectually that Jesus Christ is the Son of God is not enough. We need to receive Jesus
Christ by faith, as an act of our will, and this new faith is found true by our willingness to follow his words.
“If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's
commandments and abide in his love. These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you,
and that your joy may be full. "This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.”

Is forgiveness of sin by Jesus the only way to Heaven?
Yes. You cannot get to Heaven any other way. Not through a church, organization or your own good works.
Jesus said to them,
“I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through Me.”

Jesus is the only way because he paid the complete price for your penalty of sin on the cross. It was because of his
obedience to the Father we can have eternal life in Heaven. That is why he said it was finished when on the cross.
“Jesus knew that His mission was now finished, and to fulfill Scripture He said, "I am thirsty." A jar of sour
wine was sitting there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put it on a hyssop branch, and held it up to His lips.
When Jesus had tasted it, He said, "It is finished!" Then He bowed His head and released His spirit.”

We have proof that Jesus is God and can forgive sin.
He proved that he had power over sin and death when on the third day he rose from the grave.
"I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone
who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?" - Jesus Christ in John 11:25-26
This is the wonderful “Gospel”, which means the good news! Jesus provided the way for us to get to Heaven.

This diagram illustrates the separation of a God who is holy and man who is
sinful. A great distance separates the two because of the curse sin brought.
The arrows illustrate that man has continually tried to reach God and establish
a personal relationship with Him through his own efforts, such as a good life,
philosophy, or even multiple religions. But he will inevitably fails because of his
own sin. God had to make a way, and because He loves us, He did.

The next diagram illustrates that God has bridged the distance that separates
us from Him by sending His Son, Jesus Christ, to be born and then die for us
on the Roman cross to pay the penalty for our sins. God knew it was the only
way we would have access to heaven. This historical act happened about
2,000 years ago, and as God directs, continues to be shared with the world
today. You are now reading about this wonderful news of God’s love!
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son (Jesus),
that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.”

God’s ultimate demonstration of love and forgiveness of sin ~
Jesus Christ paid for our entrance into heaven with his own life!
It's time to talk to God by prayer and receive His salvation. God knows your heart and is not so concerned with
your words as He is with the attitude of your heart. Below is a simple prayer that can begin your new life.
You can pray a prayer like this to God:
"Dear Lord Jesus, I am a sinner and I need you. I thank You for coming to earth to die on a cross for
my sins. Please forgive me and save me. I now open the door of my life and receive You as my God,
Savior and Lord. I thank you for your promised forgiveness and giving me eternal life in heaven with
you. Please take control of my life now, give me purpose and make me the kind of person you want
me to be. Please help me to learn to follow you each day and grow closer. Amen."
You now know that God has promised eternal life to those who accept Jesus Christ. Give thanks often that Christ
is in your life and that He will never leave you. Your salvation is secure because it’s based on God’s promise that
he lives in you and that you have eternal life from the very moment you repented and invited him into your life.
“I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have
eternal life. And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his
will he hears us.” - John in 1 John 5:13-14
